What the workbook lays out

  • Every transfer, deposit, withdrawal and check, with date, amount, counterparty and a citation to statement page and line.
  • Every account and entity that appears in the records, marked whether it is listed on the sworn statement of net worth.
  • Each transfer placed against the filing and service dates you give at intake.
  • Matching amounts that move between accounts and entities within days of each other.
  • Cash withdrawals and recurring payments that stand out from the rest of the period.

And for the set as a whole

  • Source index. One row per document: what it is, the period it covers, and which findings came from it.
  • Gaps. Months of statements missing from the production, listed so you can ask for them.
  • Possible name matches. Flagged for you to decide. The system never merges two entities on its own.
  • Summary memo. Two to four pages on what the records show and where they conflict.

Two dates that shape how a transfer reads

In a New York matrimonial action, the automatic orders bind the plaintiff when the summons is filed and the defendant when it is served. From then on, neither side may sell, transfer, encumber or conceal property without written consent or a court order, apart from the usual course of business, customary household expenses and reasonable attorney's fees (22 NYCRR 202.16-a).

Transfers before filing sit outside the automatic orders, and they can still matter. Among the factors the court weighs in equitable distribution are wasteful dissipation of assets and transfers made in contemplation of a matrimonial action without fair consideration (Domestic Relations Law 236(B)(5)(d)).

So the workbook puts every transfer on the same timeline as those two dates, next to the net worth statement. What it means for the case is your call.

What to send

  • The production as you received it. No sorting.
  • The sworn statements of net worth, if they have been exchanged.
  • The filing and service dates.
  • Names and known aliases, plus the accounts and entities you already know about.
  • The date range in question and your deadline.

Up to about 3,000 documents per matter at the fixed fee. Larger sets are quoted before anything starts.

Where it fits

  • Before a deposition. A cited list of transfers and accounts to ask about.
  • Alongside your forensic accountant. A cited first pass they verify and build on, so their hours go to analysis and testimony.
  • Before a settlement conference. A workbook you can put in front of the other side's expert, since every number points to its page.
  • When a production lands close to a deadline. 72 hours from the last of three things: the full set, the signed protective order, and cleared payment.
